Eastlands Homes developed two adapted bungalows in 2011 through the JVNorth consortium. The architect was TADW, project manager Wilkinson Cowan Partnership and the main contractor was Wiggett Construction. The scheme was completed on time and within budget and Eastlands are delighted with the finished product. To date there have been no defects to report.

The scheme meets DFA2 (enhanced space) standards and improved accessibility and is built to Level  5 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, which is above current best practice that is presently Code 3. The 2 bed bungalows incorporate solar thermal /PV, heat recovery system, triple glazed A rated windows and significantly enhanced building fabric which will noticeably reduce customer's energy bill. A high air tightness score was achieved for a traditional build. As part of the organisation's green strategy, Marley Ecologic tiles were fitted that will absorb and partially off set the nitrogen oxide (NOx) generated by the maintenance fleet.

On completion the properties were immediately let to local people from the housing waiting list, helping to address housing needs in the East Manchester area.
